Our Process
1
Check your status
Enter your business name. We confirm it is active with the Secretary of State and the Comptroller.
2
Tell us what to file
Give us the new name or DBA details and approve the filing at checkout. We screen the name before anything is submitted.
3
We file and deliver
We file within one business day of a complete order and a cleared name screen, then send you your filed copy. State processing time is outside our control.
WHAT'S INCLUDED
Texas requires every entity to keep a registered agent and a registered office address on file with the Secretary of State at all times. Changing either one means filing Form 401, and the new agent has to consent to serve before it's filed.
We confirm your status, prepare Form 401 from the details you give us, file it with the Secretary of State, and send you the filed copy as a clean PDF. Nothing added at checkout.

WHAT THIS DOESN'T COVER
If your business is forfeited, usually from unfiled franchise tax reports or Public Information Reports, Texas won't process a registered agent change at all, for us or for anyone. Reinstatement has to happen first.

That's why we check status before you order: we won't take $89 for a filing the state will reject. If your check comes back not active, we'll point you to our Texas Franchise Tax Reinstatement service to fix that first, and we can file your agent change right after.
This service also doesn't provide the registered agent itself. You tell us who your new agent is, and we file the change.
WHY THERE'S NO RISK
We Confirm Before You Pay a Dollar
We confirm your status before you pay anything. You only see a checkout button once we already know the state will accept the filing. From there, most changes are processed within one to two business days.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need my new agent's permission first?
Yes. Texas law requires your new registered agent to consent to serve before the change is filed. If you're using a commercial agent service, they'll usually provide this as part of signup. If it's a person, they just need to agree in writing, and you'll confirm that on the order form.
Can I use a P.O. Box as the registered office?
No. Texas requires a physical street address in Texas where the agent can be found during business hours.
Can I be my own registered agent?
Yes, if you have a Texas street address. Keep in mind that address becomes public record.
What if my business is forfeited?
Use the checker at the top of this page before you order. If your entity is forfeited, we'll show you that immediately, at no charge, and point you to our reinstatement service.
How long does this take?
Most changes are processed within one to two business days after your order is placed. You'll get the filed copy by email as soon as it's back.
What does the $89 flat fee include?
Confirming your status, preparing and filing Form 401 with the Texas Secretary of State, and delivering your filed copy as a ready PDF. No hidden charges.
